The Week In Travel: March 19, 2010

It’s another sunny day here in Seattle, and tomorrow we’re leaving for a trip to New York, and on to Miami after that. I’ve got loads of posts to get up, some relevant, some sentimental, and nearly all of them including the phrase “crazy f*ckers.” I suppose I should clean up my language, but … eh.

This week’s The Week In Travel brings unprovoked occupation of countries with which we have peaceful relations, dangerous footwear and more.

————-

Apparently, we should invade New Zealand. Unless they visit this site, they’ll never see it coming.

Though perhaps we’ve done enough invading as of late.

Oh, and did you know that the president of Poland has a twin brother who used to be the Prime Minister? They occassionally joke that if one of them wins an office, the other will serve. I smell a screenplay, starring, oh, let’s say Richard Dreyfuss. (Thank you to Rob for telling us about this and insisting it was true even when Rand and I called b.s. on it).

In slightly less unbelievable news, the New York Times Frugal Traveler Blog has an amazing write-up on how to book flights (the frugal way).

Continuing with the zombie trend that has, for some reason, been coloring my life as of late, Aussie gamers are dressing up as the walking dead in order to protest a lack of mature video game ratings in Australia (anything rated mature is automatically banned from sale in the country). While violent video games aren’t my thing, if you get to dress up a zombie for your cause, I say go for it.

And brilliant blogger Deanna nearly drives me to tears with this tweet.

Oh, and while it’s a week late, a belated congrats to Eytan Seidman of Oyster.com fame on his wedding. We had a fantastic time – windstorms, downed power lines, and all.

And that’s the week that was. Keep reading the blog for upcoming posts on New Orleans, Sleepy Hollow, New York, and more.
